3rd Party Certifications

All Defined Benefit Pension Plans and Cash Balance Pension Plans must be certified on an annual basis to stay compliant with the IRS. Only an actuary can certify these documents.

Our in-house actuaries will review the following for your cash balance pension and defined benefit pension plans:

  • Accrued benefit calculations
  • Minimum required contributions and maximum deduction limits (funding calculations)
  • Non-discrimination testing
  • PBGC calculations and forms

Once all actuarial items are reviewed, we will provide you with a signed AFTAP certification, Schedule SB, and PBGC forms (if applicable).

Distributions & Other Plan Services

AUI provides plan services that go far beyond the annual filings. From inception to termination, we’ve got you covered. We provide the plan and trust documents and any necessary plan amendments or restatements. We prepare the required paperwork for distributions and the associated tax filings. We work with employers to establish beneficiary designations. And if the time comes that a retirement plan no longer fits your business strategy, we make sure that the plan is terminated appropriately and promptly.

Our Distributions and Other Plan Administration Services include:

  • Plan Document
  • Summary Plan Description
  • Minimum Required Distributions
  • IRS Forms 1099-R
  • IRS, DOL and PBGC Plan Audits
  • Resolving Compliance Issues

IRS Audits

Audits happen. If your plan is randomly chosen for an IRS audit, we will take the lead. Our office will review the IDR (Initial Data Request) from the IRS. We will then work with you to prepare plan and corporate documents and respond to the IRS request. From there, we will handle all correspondence with the IRS agent on behalf of your plan.
